Job Purpose
A Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in the financial operations at Family Resource Home Care by supporting the organization’s financial stability and growth. This role is responsible for assisting the Revenue Cycle Management team with various duties related to audits, reconciliations, billing, claims submission, and client billing satisfaction, as well as recording payments and resolving open accounts concerns.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Audit
- Assist in weekly audits for billing and payroll accuracy
- Assist in weekly audits of key data points on point of care software.
- Reconciliation and Reporting
- Reconcile billing statements and claims submissions to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Generate reports summarizing billing activities, outstanding balances, and revenue collection.
- Record and reconcile client and payor payments and issues.
- Invoice Generation
- Verify details against contracts and service agreements.
- Prepare and deliver invoices for private pay clients.
- Prepare and enter claims for program clients.
- Customer Communication
- Communicate with clients and payor sources regarding invoice-related inquiries, discrepancies, and payment issues.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing billing concerns promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with internal operations to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
- Data Analysis
- Analyze billing data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Suggest and implement efficiency enhancements in billing processes.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in billing, accounting, or finance.
- Attention to detail with a keen eye for accuracy, and the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite- predominantly Excel, and experience with billing or claims software.
- Heavy experience with reconciliations and audits.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent phone and email communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to change with a high growth company.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Working Conditions
The Billing Specialist will spend 100% of their time in an office environment indoors. This will require time both spent at a computer station for office work and standing for training.
The usual business hours for this role will be Monday through Friday 8am-5pm, however this role may require overtime during projects.
This position will require travel as appropriate, approximately 5% of the time.
This position will have moderate supervision.
Physical Requirements
Role may require frequent standing, walking, sitting, and keyboarding. Occasional twisting, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, kneeling or squatting.
Position will require the employee to talk and hear.
Lifting can range from frequent 10 lbs. or less to seldom lifting of greater than 50 lbs.
Direct Reports
This position will not have any direct supervision responsibility.
