Position Details
The Sexual Abuse Comprehensive Services (SAC) Advocate will provide comprehensive sexual abuse services to clients in the service area that identify or are identified as survivors. The Advocate will provide advocacy, case management, emotional support, support groups, and safety planning for clients affected by sexual abuse. Primarily, the advocate will provide support to survivors at medical facilities, within the legal system, or at other locations in the community as appropriate. The advocate will also collaborate with other community agencies to ensure the needs of survivors of sexual assault are prioritized. This position will need to have a flexible schedule that may include working some nights, weekends, and holidays.
Position Specifics
- Position Hours: varies-8:30 am-5 pm with some occasional evenings and on-call shifts
- Comprehensive benefits offered

- Service Area: Clinton County. May have to travel to Jackson, Scott, Muscatine, and Lousia County occasionally
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Financial
- Meets or exceeds budgets financial expectations for the program
- Will seek prior approval and work with the direct supervisor for any purchases that need to be made
- Submit all receipts within 24 hours of purchase
- Provides timesheet documentation for all funding sources related to the position
Operations
- Operate from the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS)
- Inputs daily services into the data entry system by the noted deadline each week.
- Understanding of the issues related to the decision-making process; ability to analyze situations fully and accurately, and reach productive decisions.
- Identifies, obtains, and organizes relevant data and ideas.
- Utilizes feedback from various sources in order to improve the quality of services offered. Sources such as surveys, volunteers, community, and team members.
- Keep an open flexible schedule to meet the needs of the community, survivors, and the program.
- Assess and implement necessary adaptations of current comprehensive services to meet the unique needs of the population served
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with individuals and community members in the service area.
- Complete annual continuing education requirements to ensure certification as a Sexual Abuse Advocate with the IowaCASA.
Client/External
- Provide targeted professional outreach, training, and technical assistance to increase identification and referral for services as well as a trauma-informed response when a survivor discloses sexual assault.
- Provide support groups for clients in the program
- Provide advocacy and support services during court proceedings, medical exams, and/or investigations
- Provide on-call direct service on a pre-scheduled rotating basis with other staff members outside of normal office hours.
- Demonstrates civil and respectful behaviors valued within the organization.
- Attends all community meetings determined to be essential.

- Participates in, at minimum, twice monthly individual supervisions with a direct supervisor

- Provides the following services to survivors of sexual violence and agencies, organizations, and systems that interact with survivors of sexual violence:Awareness and outreach, inter-agency collaborations, serving on multi-disciplinary teams as needed, awareness and referrals, school outreach, systems advocacy, public awareness campaigns, and outreach materials, emergency food, clothing, and transportation assistance, immediate shelter and related supportive services, legal advocacy, medical advocacy, economic advocacy, transportation, child care and/or respite care, and safety planning
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in survivor/human services field required.
- 3 years of experience working in the human services field with survivor services experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license in good standing and vehicle with appropriate auto insurance required. Must be able to pass the motor vehicle record background check.
Must have current proof of car insurance, able to pass a driving background check, and have reliable transportation.
