Position Summary

  • Provide administrative and clinical leadership for the APA accredited training program and to the broader training program, which includes additional Bachelors and Master’s practicum students. Serve as the primary liaison with the APA and maintain APA accreditation.   Assess internal capacity of the Center to provide internships and practicums and coordinates placement at FSGC with educational institutions.
  • The Staff Clinician is primarily responsible for providing individual, family and group psychotherapy to children, adolescents and families at Family Service & Guidance Center.  The Staff Clinician works closely with the client, family and treatment team to identify treatment goals, objectives and discharge criteria.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
APA Accredited Program 

  •  Maintain APA accreditation; including timely completion of all requirements for the APA internship and match process.
  • Oversees accreditation and compliance with the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) for the psychology pre-doctoral program.
  • Maintain all required APA materials and required training records.
  • Develop and maintain relationships internally and externally to ensure adequate didactic trainings weekly.
  • Maintain all required training/experiences as outlined in the APA internship program manual.
  • Provide supervision as required to matched interns.
  • Ensure matched interns meet all required elements of the described internship program. 
  • Ensure the internship program offers all described elements noted in the internship manual. 
  • Conduct appraisals and routine feedback of intern performance meeting APA requirements in this area. 

Practicum Student Training Program 

  • Ensure the appropriate supervision and experience of all other practicum students, following BSRB and University requirements. 
  • Provide clinical oversight, input, and guidance for the Master’s and Bachelor’s level clinical student program and work collaboratively with students, field instructors, directors, supervisors and credentialing specialists to ensure applicable standards under BSRB are met for student and field instructor. 
  • Ensure clinical work done under the supervision of the field instructor is appropriately documented. 
  • Develop procedures and protocols for the intern program to ensure integrity and process are met. 
  • Support and actively promote the vision and mission of Family Service and Guidance Center.
  • Act as an ambassador of Family Service & Guidance Center in the community setting and public events.
  • Vigilantly protect and maintain client confidentiality.
  • Promote internal and external customer service to clients, families and other staff/departments.  
  • Other duties as assigned.

Outpatient Therapist
•    Complete admission assessments per agency procedure for all new or returning clients. 
•    Provide individual, family and group therapy to children, adolescents and families. 
•    Meet productivity expectation of Family Service & Guidance Center. 
•    Provide crisis intervention with families as deemed appropriate. 
•    Be familiar in the philosophy of WrapAround Services both for the purpose of assessing needs and delivering services. 
•    Participate in weekly team meetings for the purpose of case assignments, case review, individual case planning and collaboration with team members. 
•    Complete clinical documentation (admission assessments, progress notes, 90 day progress reviews, referrals for other services, etc.) in compliance with time lines established by Family Service & Guidance Center’s Quality Assurance standards as well as those set by funding sources. 
•    Expected to stay informed of agency developments by reading memorandums and other agency related written communication. 
•    Provide clinical oversight of clinical cases and direct treatment among multiple Family Service & Guidance Center providers when assigned the role of primary provider. 
•    Doctoral Level Psychologists may be assigned the responsibility of completing psychological testing under the supervision of the licensed psychologist coordinating assessment services. 
•    Respect and demonstrate ability to maintain client confidentiality. 
•    Act as an ambassador of Family Service & Guidance Center in the community setting. This may include doing public educational and informational presentations. 
•    Supports and actively promotes the vision and mission of Family Service & Guidance Center and the philosophy of the strengths perspective. 
•    Other duties as assigned
 

Qualifications


Education/Licensure:
•    Must possess a Ph.D., or Psy.D. and be licensed as a Psychologist (LP) through the State of Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board.
•    Must be two years post licensure as a Licensed Psychologist (LP).
•    Must meet criteria to be a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP).
•    Must successfully pass the KBI and DCF Central Registry and all other background investigations.
•    Must possess a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, current auto insurance and reliable transportation.
•    Active membership in professional organizations strongly encouraged.

Experience:
•    At least two years of providing clinical services and an additional two years of supervisory experience.
•    Preferred experience in a CMHC setting.
•    Preferred experience in a training program. 
•    Extensive knowledge of development, therapeutic intervention and theory as well as experience in the provision of evidence based practices.  
•    Ability to perform services in an ethical manner.
•    Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary setting and to promote cross team services on behalf of clients.
•    Ability to follow written and oral instructions.  
•    Ability to write effectively.
•    Must successfully complete required trainings such as Managing Aggressive Behavior, CPR and First Aid, within the first three months of employment.
