Job Position: Therapeutic Mentor
Reports to: Therapeutic Mentoring Director
Status: Part-Time (5 - 20 hours a week)
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Family Services of the Merrimack Valley is seeking Therapeutic Mentors for the Lawrence, Haverhill and Lowell areas. Therapeutic Mentors provide one-to-one, strengths-based support to children, adolescents, and transition-age youth who have emotional/behavioral challenges. Therapeutic Mentors work in community settings (schools, parks, homes, etc.), teaching youth the skills of communication, conflict resolution, problem solving, and age-appropriate behaviors so that they can succeed in their homes, schools, and communities.
DUTIES INCLUDE
· Meet with assigned youth in the community, teaching/coaching skills to improve functioning (e.g. communication, conflict resolution, frustration tolerance, etc.).
· Maintain weekly contact with primary mental health provider (hub).
· Ability to communicate effectively on a regular basis with collaterals (DCF, teachers, etc.) and attend meetings (IEP, etc.) for the benefit of the client as needed.
· Complete all treatment documentation in compliance with agency standards and timelines.
· Document all treatment activities in accordance with third-party billing standards using electronic medical records (EMRs).
· Identify and utilize community resources that enhance client and family growth.
· Participate in the CBHI wraparound process.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED (further degree or education welcome) and at least two years of experience working with the target population
- Afternoon/evening availability to meet with clients. Weekend availability a plus.
- Licensed and insured driver with consistent access for transporting clients to activities.
- Bilingual Spanish/English.

- Experience and competency working with diverse families and cultures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literate with the ability to learn and use electronic medical records (EMRs).
- Superior time management skills.
- Knowledgeable about culture and resources in assigned community.

COMPENSATION
$17-18/hour commensurate with experience.
