Job Summary:

The STEPS Family Prevention Specialist will provide crisis intervention and help stabilize the crisis, which will prevent the removal of child(ren) from the home. This position will conduct face-to-face contact with the family each week and will do follow-up after the services are in place with the family.

Essential Duties:

  • Conducts interviews with the families to identify strengths, needs, and general household information. 20%
  • Links at-risk families with services and assists in obtaining referrals. 10%
  • Conducts in-home services; parenting, behavior modification, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, transportation, money management, life skills, case management, and education on community resources. 30%
  • Provides regular contact with families by performing home visits. 20%
  • Documents all case activity, demographic information, and contact with client. 10%
  • Maintains a case file on each family with required documents and submits case files to supervisor for review within required timeframe. 5%
  • Ensures progress is made in service provision and closes cases in a timely manner. 5%
  • Other Duties As needed

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a human services or related field required.

Experience:

One year of experience with at-risk children and families preferred.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:

Valid drivers license.

Other Requirements:

  • Clear a Level II background screening
  • Clear a reference check (professional and personal)
  • Clear a local background check from the County in which you reside
  • Clear a substance abuse screen
  • Provide a copy of all degrees prior to your first day of employment
  • Clear a Motor Vehicles Records check and must be insurable under the company’s automobile policy
  • Provide copy of automobile insurance.
  • Provide proof of, and maintain a minimum personal auto liability insurance level $100,000/$300,000 if deemed to be a driving risk.
  • Clear an E-Verify check to substantiate that the successful candidate meets the Department of Homeland Security authorization requirements to work in the United States (for more information visit www.dhs.gov/e-verify)
