You must have knowledge of Accounting principles and previous law firm experience a plus. The ideal candidate should understand the inner workings of a law firm (family law even better), be someone who enjoys working with parents and families, takes initiative, and who also works well within a team. You are in a centralized coordinating position and will be expected to regularly communicate with the Client Relations Manager and upper management on a regular basis. It is vital that the Bookkeeper become highly knowledgeable about our legal service offerings so they can act as our firm’s ambassador and ask appropriate questions to determine how best to work with the client and direct them to the appropriate colleague if necessary. This role is critical to the success of the firm with the ideal candidate being very organized, financially-minded, forward thinking, results oriented, a problem solver and strong communicator.
Responsible for assisting in all areas of the finance department including but not limited to: monthly and pay in full legal billing, creating invoices, processing daily receivables and deposits, handling payment of Taskshares on an ongoing basis, disbursements to clients, bank reconciliations, general administrative tasks, as well as other long term projects. Day to day activities will vary over a broad spectrum of responsibilities, delivered in a fast-paced working atmosphere. The ideal candidate has demonstrated commitment to professionalism, hands-on experience with attorney-client accounts, client billing, accounts receivable and payable and is a skilled multi-tasker that is reliable, committed to consistently meeting deadlines and enjoys interacting with clients and prospective clients. Ability to prioritize and focus on multiple tasks while handling confidential and proprietary information with utmost discretion are a must. Candidates should present with a professional demeanor and appearance, possess a high level of comfort with technology and computer systems, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Bachelor’s Degree ideally in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field. 3 years prior experience in bookkeeping preferably for a law firm, working directly with clients and handling payment management.
