The Driver Safety and Training Manager implements and addresses driver policies and training at locations across Ohio and Famous National Account branches. This role will be based out of Sebring and/or Akron, Ohio. Travel required 50-75%, mostly regional.
Job Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains driver onboarding and training program.
- Develops and conducts driver training; maintains and updates driver training library and maintains driver training records.
- Administers annual refresher training and post-accident remedial training.
- Develops, monitors, and approves driver safety policies and procedures; provides training as required.
- Conducts routine and unannounced driver evaluations and safety check rides with assigned drivers.
- Performs ride-a-long trips with drivers throughout assigned area to evaluate performance, reinforce proper training and behaviors to ensure safety compliance and customer service excellence, provide on-the-job training in order to increase delivery accuracy and customer experience, and improve productivity.
- Develops and evaluates driver safety performance metrics.
- Builds out detailed accident investigation process.
- Assesses accidents and incidents and/or potential emergency situations (e.g. breakdowns, accidents, etc.) for the purpose of resolving or recommending a solution to the situation.
- Establishes effective lines of communication and feedback with Operational Leadership to ensure prompt attention and resolution of conditions that adversely affect driver safety.
- Manages Samsara telematic system for all fleet assets and drivers including but not limited to advancing usage, training, process, and control.
- Serves as representative for all DOT inspections, audits, and investigations.
- Represents Famous Enterprises at driver safety meetings.
- Collaborates with Operational Leadership to develop and disseminate new procedures, procedural updates, and changes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- One (1) to three (3) years’ experience in a lead or supervisory capacity required; preferred experience working in a transit or transportation and distribution type operations, AND
- Five (5) years of experience in driving large vehicles preferred
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations
- Knowledge of transportation and vehicle operations
- Knowledge and experience of advanced telematic systems for driver safety and fleet utilization (Samsara preferred)
- Advanced knowledge/experience utilizing Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Associate or Bachelor degree in related field or equivalent preferred
