Job Posting for Woodworking/Design Thinking at Far Brook School
Far Brook School is seeking a dynamic and experienced Leave Replacement Teacher to teach woodworking and design thinking October 2022 - January 2023. Working in a large and well-equipped shop, this teacher will teach woodworking and design thinking. The successful candidate will show flexibility and creativity and be able to work collaboratively while making cross-curricular connections with different disciplines, grade levels, and divisions.
* Essential Responsibilities:
Understand and support the Far Brook School Statement of Purpose and Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Social Justice
Teach basic woodworking to Nursery through 8th Grade in a well equipped classroom using a variety of hand tools
Demonstrate, facilitate and mentor students in practical and artistic woodworking skills
Actively engage students in curriculum through varied and differentiated instruction
Incorporate technology, digital art and new media into studio and lessons
Commitment to collaborative and innovative teaching styles
Communicate and uphold the strictest safety standards
* * Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art or Education with demonstrated proficiency in woodworking and design
Proficient using hand and power tools
Experience using and teaching digital design tools, including TinkerCAD, 3D printing, and Laser Cutting
Familiarity with GSuite for Education
Ability to manage all aspects of a Woodworking studio, including equipment, materials, and budget
Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
Experience with differentiated instruction
Effective communication skills
Creative and resourceful, with a strong work ethic
