Job Overview:
End of Training (EOT) Enhancement courses in the form of resident face to face classroom instructional services for military DoD linguists.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- provide language instructors, documentation of student progress, instructional
materials to include syllabi, weekly schedules, lesson plans, and course teaching and assessment materials.
- Courses will be designed to help students to reach Level 2 in Listening, Level 2 in Reading, and Level 1 in Speaking, as measured by the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level Descriptions.
- instructors must be able to deliver courses face-to-face, the preferred method, and online when required.
- -An Instructor Contact Hours (ICH) consists of fifty minutes of instruction and a ten-minute break. Training must be conducted between the hours of 07:55am and 03:45pm, Monday – Friday. Classes are not allowed to end before scheduled time except in emergency situations and with authorization. There will be no scheduled classes on Federal holidays and designated military training holidays.
- Instructors will work seven hours per day with a one-hour unpaid lunch break. The students and instructor will be briefed at the class start if the lunch hour will occur after either 3rd or 4th hour.
- An e-learning platform must have the capability to deliver electronic learning content, to store learning and assessment materials, lesson plans, schedules, allow for collaborative work and to provide all other applicable tools or materials.
- The student to teacher ratio in each classroom will depend on a language's category. There will be one (1) to eight (8) students in category 1 and 2 classes. There will be one (1) to six (6) students in category 3 and 4 classes. Classes may have an extra student on an infrequent basis.
Instructors must prove their native-like proficiency by providing an Oral Proficiency Interview score of Level 3 or above on the ILR scale or Superior or above on the ACTFL scale in the Target Language. Additionally, instructors must prove their proficiency in English by providing an Oral Proficiency Interview score of Level 2 or above on the ILR scale or Advanced or above on the ACTFL scale. Documentation demonstrating scores will not be older than 18 months.
Instructors must prepare for each class they teach, tailoring the lesson to individual student’s needs. It is the responsibility of the instructor must ensure that such preparation is accomplished. The weekly plan must include the objectives, materials to be used, the activities to be accomplished, the assessment method, and the homework to be completed day-by day.
A minimum of two years of expertise and experience in teaching the target language at a college level is required.
The instructor shall prove that there is at least one qualification in each language.
