Job Overview:
FAR Group is currently seeking Medical Physician primarily in the delivery of patient care at the Gallup Indian Medical Center, Gallup, New Mexico.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Candidate shall perform diagnosis, care, and treatment of medical inpatients on the general medical ward and ICU (including patients on ventilators and pressers), as well as perform medical consultation for other services including, but not limited to, Ob/gyn, surgery, orthopedics, the emergency department, and the Walk-In Primary Care Clinic (WIPCC).
· Candidate shall interview and examine medical patients, review past medical history, and request and/or perform diagnostic tests and examinations deemed necessary to obtain all possible information related to each case.
· Candidate shall make preliminary diagnoses and provide treatment or arrange for specialized care or patient referral as required. Bases decisions upon information obtained, professional medical knowledge and skills, and prescribed policies and procedures.
· Candidate shall consult with fellow hospitalists or providers from other medical disciplines whenever necessary to more clearly define a patient's problem and seek assistance to safely provide the necessary medical interventions.
· The candidate shall educate the patient and their family about the condition and plan of care.
· The candidate shall address the patient's goals of care as appropriate.
· The candidate shall provide definitive management in all medical categories for cases that do not require referral. Gives total patient care including health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and arranging of follow up services to medical patients under his/her care.
· The candidate shall prepare appropriate medical records for adult patients seen to assure the accumulation and organization of all pertinent clinical data needed to provide comprehensive medical care.
· The candidate shall prepare prescriptions accurately following Federal and U.S. Public Health Service laws and policies.
· The candidate will maintain appropriate professional demeanor in all interactions with other providers, staff, and patients or their families.
· The candidate shall perform duties in accordance with the approved privileges through the credentialing process.
Work Schedule:
· Shall determine the specific tour of duty based on need to support patient care. This generally includes alternating admitting and non-admitting shifts.
· Work Flexibility. As directed, the candidateshall provide call support as needed to support patient care.
Qualification Requirements:
· Experience. The candidate shall have documentation of a successful completion of a residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
· License. The candidate shall possess a current, valid, active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
· The candidate shall possess a current Board eligibility or certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
· The candidate shall possess a current, valid, unrestricted driver's license in any state.
· Certifications.Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is mandatory for all hospitalists.
· Medical Evaluation. The candidate shall provide a fitness for duty certificate issued by a licensed physician to perform the proposed job without significant risk to personal health or the health and safety of others.
· Immunization. The candidate shall also provide the following documentation:
■ Immunity to Rubella, Mumps, Measles
■ Immunity to Hepatitis B series
■ History of chicken pox (varicella) disease or positive titer
■ Tdap vaccine required
■ Documentation of receiving a TB Mantoux skin test (PPD) within the past 12 months with documentation of follow-up for a positive test.
■ A signed declination of the Hepatitis B vaccination series will be accepted.
■ Current Influenza vaccination
· Information Technology Skills. The candidate shall possess basic knowledge, skills, and abilities to use a computer. The candidate must be able to type well enough to complete medical records in a timely fashion.
