What are the responsibilities and job description for the NVH CAE Engineer position at Faraday Future?

The Company:

Faraday Future (FF) is a California-based mobility company, leveraging the latest technologies and world’s best talent to realize exciting new possibilities in mobility. We’re producing user-centric, technology-first vehicles to establish new paradigms in human-vehicle interaction. We’re not just seeking to change how our cars work – we’re seeking to change the way we drive. At FF, we’re creating something new, something connected, and something with a true global impact.

Your Role:

As an NVH CAE Engineer, you will be working with world class engineering teams who are aligned with the FF vision to develop the best EV in the world. You will play a leading role in driving vehicle design utilizing CAE to meet NVH functional targets. Perform construction and refinement of CAE models using various CAE software. Work with Development Engineers to assemble load inputs from vehicle testing and drive correlation activities. Provide innovative design changes based on the analysis in product development cycle. Work collaboratively with each group to cater to their CAE needs throughout the whole phase of vehicle development, i.e., target setting, vehicle benchmarking, concept designing, prototype development and optimization, vehicle testing, refinement and validation, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Work interactively with different departments across the company to develop and improve NVH performance and ensure vehicle NVH attributes are achieved
  • Lead development of vehicle NVH analysis models using CAE tools to improve and optimize the structural/fluid/acoustic behaviors of products among component-level, system-level and vehicle level
  • Develop processes to perform vehicle wind noise simulations and related aeroacoustics activities using computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools including finite element analysis, acoustics, and optimization
  • Develop strategies to achieve NVH attributes at minimum cost, weight, and complexity
  • Perform NVH CAE post-processing and conduct correlation studies based on physical test results
  • Research and evaluate CAE (i.e., computational aeroacoustics simulation) and testing tools to establish and improve NVH refinement processes
  • Assist as needed with NVH and wind noise subjective evaluations, conduct problem root cause studies, develop countermeasures, and summarize findings
  • Assist as needed with experimental Noise, Vibration and Aero-acoustics measurements, i.e., modal analysis, frequency response analysis, on-road measurement, wind tunnel measurement, to support vehicle NVH development
  • Prepare and deliver reports and other communications as needed to document NVH project status
  • Demonstrate ability to keep up with the fast-paced design development cycle by providing results within a tight schedule

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline
  • 6 years of NVH experience related to Finite Element Analysis, Solid Mechanics, Numerical Methods or related academic background
  • Demonstrated ability to perform NVH simulation using various FEA Solvers (Abaqus, NASTRAN, etc.)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fluid, structure and acoustics in vehicle NVH development
  • Strong knowledge and experience with component-level, system-level and vehicle-level NVH development and refinement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • D. or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in the areas of NVH testing, Durability, Aero, Thermal, Powertrain and Safety
  • Hands on experience with CAD design tools like CATIA V6 or Solidworks
  • Great communications skills - convey complex technical information in simple language
