What are the responsibilities and job description for the UI Designer position at FareHarbor?
Note: This position can be filled either in San Francisco or Amsterdam.
We are growing across the entire Design team and need a UI Designer to help drive FareHarbor into the future.
As an UI designer at FareHarbor your main focus will be maintaining and future proofing our core product. Together with the UI and Frontend team you will help lead our CSS code base and help keep our components and design library up to date. You will collaborate across our product organization and work closely with our designers and engineers to ensure projects are aligned with our growth strategy.
We make the best software in our space, and a big way we do that is by caring deeply about our product, its design and user experience, and thinking proactively for an industry that generally doesn't get much love in any of those areas. FareHarbor solves problems for thousands of global businesses across hundreds of verticals.
Key responsibilities:
- We have a strong brand, but it requires some love and caring. As part of your role, you need to make sure the FareHarbor principles are aligned with our product experience principles and applied correctly within the different touchpoints
- We like when things are neat and tidy. Your role is to apply this mindset to our design system, by making sure the atomic elements are always best in shape, organized and consistent
- It's not a secret we always have a roadmap to get the business running, but we always make sure there is time dedicated for personal exploration whether it's about a new tool you would like to learn, or ways to elevate our design practice
- Collaboration on the design system level across multiple touch-points
- Responsible in updating documentation and guidelines to help promote our design system / language across the business
- Be passionate about our users, combined with consumer insights (ux research) to help best position your work
What tools will you use?
- Be comfortable by using the browsers inspect panel to identify some CSS deficiencies or to navigate between HTML tags without hands-holding
- For administrative purposes we use the JIRA ecosystem
What do you need to know in order to be successful?
- You have a solid knowledge and interest about the fundamentals of design: composition, typography, colors, image-making and grids
- Good understanding of building design systems and apply the atomic elements to support the larger design goals
- Able to collaborate with developers and non-design members of the organization
We're looking for someone that is inspired and motivated to push industry, our team loves to collaborate, we have a great attitude and maturity into design systems and want to continue to pave the path in being industry leaders in our space. Want to be part of something awesome?
