Position Summary

The Senior Benefits Analyst role will play a critical role in the development and delivery of FBN’s Global Benefits program by introducing innovative plans that align with: FBN culture, workforce needs, and other Ag tech companies. The Senior Benefits Analyst will be responsible for managing day-to-day administration and the employee experience for our health and welfare programs.  Position is responsible for applying analytical skills to design, monitor and audit programs and new program proposals.

Responsibilities 

  • Manage day-to-day benefits processing, including new hire enrollments, life events, terminations, and individual employee benefit reimbursements for medical, dental, vision, life, 401(k), health savings and flex spending accounts
  • Provide front line Tier 2 support for employee inquiries. Respond to non-routine employee inquiries regarding benefits coverages, eligibility, elections, status changes, and other general inquiries including complex claims and second level appeals
  • Ensure accuracy of benefits enrollments/changes and effective transfer of eligibility and elections to vendor partners, including management of error reporting and troubleshooting any system or integration issues.
  • Provide tools and ongoing education to People Operations team members (recruiters, HRBPs, managers and employees) servicing tier 0 and 1 employee benefits questions.
  • Monitor network and claims to ensure that employees in rural locations have equal and easy access to service providers.
  • Complete regular and ad-hoc audits to ensure employee benefit coverage and payroll deductions are accurate.
  • Facilitate 401(k) and spending account reconciliations.
  • Partner with benefits vendors to ensure a positive employee benefits experience and resolve benefits or claims issues. Monitor and evaluate timeliness, accuracy, quality of vendor partner customer service and cost effectiveness.
  • Prepare benefits program utilization information and statistical analysis, using standard and/or ad hoc HRIS reporting to provide information for decision making to actuaries, auditors, insurance carriers, and management.
  • Partner with the People Systems and Payroll teams on benefit plan changes that require changes to our Workday benefits application and payroll deductions.
  • Participate in the annual benefits renewal and open enrollment processes, including program recommendation analysis, Workday system and vendor integration updates, and delivery of the open enrollment experience.
  • Collaborate with internal resources on cross-functional projects to implement changes or new programs, partnerships, and streamline operations.
  • Assist with the research, analysis and evaluation of company-wide benefit plans/programs.
  • Deliver new hire and open enrollment benefits presentation as needed.
  • Maintain the annual compliance calendar to ensure that every employee has received and where applicable acted on benefit disclosure requirements 
  • Assist in the benefits due diligence process for any acquisitions or mergers 
  • Actively remains current on industry and regulatory issues and changes through training and available literature.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned to maintain and enhance departmental operation. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Accomplished in application of core skills, developing advanced skills
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree plus 5 years of related experience or 9 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of Expertise in global benefit programs including administration, compliance, data analytics, and financials
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws at the federal, state, and local level
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with global benefit programs including administration, compliance, data analytics, and financials
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to maintain effective working relationships and influence internal and external partners
  • Experience with benefits administration in HRIS, such as: in Workday, Google Suite, Microsoft Office
  • In-depth understanding of state and local laws governing benefits and leaves such as: ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and FMLA to ensure compliance.
  • Excellent analytical skills to research and evaluate benefits programs to make informed choices.
  • The ability to present information clearly and in a manner that is understandable to managers and employees and to answer questions.
  • Understanding the legal issues with regard to salaries, pay equity, and LOA by reading relevant articles, making use of personal networks, and attending workshops with other professionals.

The following represents FBN's reasonable estimate of the US national average base salary range of possible compensation for this role based on market data and placement of internal employees: $85,000 - $100,000. 

This salary range may vary based on geography and variations in cost of labor. Beyond the above or adjusted to market salary range, FBN also offers all full-time employees competitive equity compensation, health and wellness benefits, and various perks.
