Accounts Payable Clerk

SUMMARY: Ensure that invoices for Farmers National Banc Corp and its subsidiaries are processed and paid in a timely manner. This job requires that the incumbent understand debits and credits and how to handle basic general ledger entries. The detailed nature of the job also requires a high degree of accuracy, concentration and organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:      

• Forward invoices to appropriate managers for approval
• Review invoices, credit card bills and employee expense reports for required approval prior to payment
• Prioritize invoices according to cash discount potential and payment terms
• Code invoices with Vendor ID and cost allocation method if applicable
• Confirm sales tax is charged correctly on all invoices
• Enter invoice information into Accounts Payable system for batch processing
• Balance all accounts payable batches and correct errors prior to posting
• Save various accounts payable reports as pdf files for audit and support purposes
• Print checks, obtain signature if required and place checks in the mail
• Process files for electronic payment of invoices and make necessary system entries
• Maintain and update vendor payment information
• Monitor receipt of ACH payment instructions and W9 forms from vendors requiring a 1099 Misc for tax purposes
• Update expense information in Excel spreadsheets as needed
• Respond to inquiries from department managers and vendors
• Work on special projects as requested by the Controller and Accounting Manager
• Complete all mandatory and elective training, including BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) and Anti-Money laundering procedures. Maintain compliance with all appropriate rules and regulations.
• Regular, predictable attendance is an essential requirement of this position

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Associates degree preferred
• Two (2) years previous accounts payable experience with accounting knowledge is preferred      
• Knowledge of Word, Excel, Internet navigation/research, and Outlook is expected
• Ability to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
