Instructional Support Technician - Mechanical Engineering Technology

Farmingdale State College invites applications for an Instructional Support Technician position in the Mechanical Engineering Technology Department. The Instructional Support Technician will assist the Instructional Support Specialist, faculty, chair, and students of the department in various laboratories such as Manufacturing Processes, Quality Control, Material Science, Strength of Materials, and Robotics laboratories. The technician will assist with maintaining chemical and equipment inventory, repairing and maintaining equipment, and preparing materials for laboratory courses. Additionally, the technician will provide support in laboratory courses, carry out experiments, and assist with accreditation preparation. The technician will communicate with the campus safety officer and physical plant to maintain safety, facilities cleanliness, and security. This position requires day-time and evening hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or closely related field at the time of hire.
• Experience with operation and repair of manufacturing equipment such as lathe/milling/CNC machines.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3D modeling software, MasterCAM, PLC, and robotics.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to lift and transport items weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least one year working experience in a laboratory or industry setting.
• Work experience in higher education

This is a full-time UUP position.

• For the first 10 working days, beginning Monday, February 26, 2024, and ending Friday, March 8, 2024, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
• CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Wednesday, April 10, 2024
• SALARY: $55,000 $3,400 in downstate location pay = $58,400 Total Compensation.
• ANTICIPATED START DATE: September 1, 2024
