QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate.
  • Experience with students with Autism preferred.
  • Physical management might be necessary. Must be CPI trained or willing to be CPI trained within 30
school days of hire date and annually update CPI certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, staff members, parents and
community.
  • Ability to follow a medical plan.
  • Possess academic skills to support students in school content courses to include any additional building
needs as determined by the teacher, teacher consultant and/or supervisor.
  • May require the ability to bathroom students
  • Ability to meet the State of Michigan’s requirement for Highly Qualified; Associates Degree or equivalent,

60 credit hours’ post-secondary coursework at an accredited college or university, or a passing score on
either the Basic Skills Test MTTC or on the ETS ParaPro Assessment, preferred.

  • Physical ability to lift, push and pull 50 pounds regularly.
  • Minimum of one (1) year successful experience as a teacher paraprofessional in a special education

classroom or day-care training program, or advanced training in a community college or degree-granting
institution whose special education instruction and training program has been approved by the state is
preferred but not required for current ESP applicants.
