Geotechnical Project Manager (Farrell Design-Build)

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute construction projects safely, on-time, and within budget in a team environment.
  • Monitor, control, and report budget during all phases of project.
  • Manage projects seamlessly with proactive communication between suppliers, vendors,and team.
  • Monitor and collaborate with Foreman to ensure execution of scope of work.
  • Ensure compliance with approved contract documents and general contractorrequirements.
  • Coordinate all necessary tooling, equipment, documentation, and safety requirementswith Foreman for successful execution of projects.
  • Partner with Project Engineers to prepare design and construction documents.
  • Coordinate with Operation Team for scheduling labor and equipment.
  • Maintain regular contact with Farrell’s customers.
  • Coordinate, organize, and review project documents.
  • Submit and follow up on construction documents (i.e. submittals, schedules, Requests for Information).
  • Procure quotes and materials for projects.
  • Visit job sites occasionally as necessary.
  • Assist Safety Manager with hazard analysis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of contract management, claims management and dispute resolution
  • Understanding of engineering science and technology, design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • 3-5 years’ experience managing construction projects from start to finish.
  • Valid class C driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Microsoft software skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • PDF software skills (Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

Education/Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field plus 3-5 years of project management experience in geotechnical construction.

Any equivalent combination of education and experience which meets the required knowledge, skills and abilities.


Desired Education/Training/Skills

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • OSHA 10 or 30 Certification

Up to 25% overnight travel within a given region required for this position
