OVERVIEW:
Working as Full-Time Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability Manager, you will manage the Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability department. This department is responsible for researching and administering governmental regulations, performing general paperwork such as data entry and filing, assisting with administrative reporting, conducting trainings and monitoring the safety related functions within the region. You will provide supervision and leadership to a team of employees. You will be responsible for the overall function of the department including short term and long term goals that pertain to quality, productivity and time management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
o Providing supervision and leadership to team members
o Coordinating employees, including scheduling, hiring and firing
o Ensuring short term and long term goals are met
o Training and developing employees
o Communicating with employees and branches
o Conducting new employee orientations
o Ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, and local environmental health and safety regulations
o Performing accident investigations and job safety analysis
o Conducting employee orientation and annual safety trainings
o Assisting District Managers with the tools to help all branch personnel complete required safety trainings
o Assisting the Distribution Center and store employees with hazardous material compliance
o Completing administrative reporting and related clerical duties
o Coordinating compliance with safety standards as well as assisting with policies and procedures
o Assisting with developing and implementing emergency action plans and other safety procedures and policies within the facility
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:
o 18 years of age or older, due to the nature of work
o Possess a current full valid driver's license issued in the country where the job is located (including successful completion of any applicable graduated license program for your state or province) as well as the ability to meet our driving record requirements to use a company vehicle, as needed
o Possess a degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety, Public Health, Human Resources, Engineering, Construction, or a safety/medical related education OR possess at least 3 years of work experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety OR possess at least 3 years of Fastenal leadership work experience
o Proficient written and oral communication skills
o Proficient at using Microsoft Office Suite
o Demonstrate knowledge of occupational safety and general industry regulations or standards
o Highly motivated, self directed and customer service oriented
o Lead and motivate a team of employees
o Demonstrate strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities
o Learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
o Willingness to travel while working a flexible schedule
o Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork
o Lift, slide, carry and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 100lbs
o Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)
PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
o Prior work experience or education in OSHA, EPA, safety, operations, sustainability, communications, environmental compliance, risk management, business, or a related field
o Possess a certification or have prior industry training (i.e. OSHA 30hr, Certified Safety Professional, Qualified Environmental Professional, and Risk Management Certification, or related education)
o Prior experience with lean principles or ISO programs
o Previous experience with managing safety/environmental/sustainability programs across a number of locations and business units
