Position Summary
The Sr. Communications Specialist role at FastMed will report directly to the Manager of Marketing, working closely with FastMed’s leadership team to develop a holistic communications strategy and deliver communications to internal (executive, field, corporate) and external audiences. With strong foundational experience, the ideal candidate will have the thirst to grow, have the natural talent to create compelling communications, and will represent FastMed’s organizational values and culture.
The ideal candidate will possess communications leadership qualities and experience, while also being a self-starter with the ability to quickly establish relationships and work cross-functionally across various FastMed departments. This role should not only have an excellent understanding of best-in-class communication principles, but also the ability to tie it back to the company’s mission, values and vision as well as incorporate the company culture. The ideal candidate should be a great storyteller, be nimble and able to easily switch gears to support external communications as needed through agency partners. This individual should be comfortable with all forms of media including traditional, digital, and social.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop a robust communications strategy and execute a plan to regularly inform and engage FastMed team members of company-wide updates.
- Determine the optimal methods of communication for varying audiences and messages within and outside the organization.
- Partner with Executive and Senior leadership to provide thought leadership on internal and external communications, often serving as the brand / voice of select Executive(s) in the industry
- Facilitate weekly meetings related to communications.
- Gather relevant internal information on a regular basis and develop communication updates with a variety of content including project updates, department updates, team member updates, clinic team events, field events, industry news, trends, etc.
- Prepare a communications plan for a specific stream of work as needed and regularly update FastMed employees on the progress of the stream of work and/or project.
- Be a champion for and promote the company’s mission, values, and vision throughout key messages.
- Energize team members around the company’s mission, values, and vision through engaging stories from within the organization.
- Work cross-functionally with key departments needing direct support for team member communications like HR, Operations, Finance, IT, and more.
- Lead crisis communications planning as needed.
- Report on analytics from communications efforts, both internal and external. Measure engagement and pivot communications strategy and planning as needed.
- Manage agency partners on external communications and public relations messages; project managing activations across various markets as needed.
- Assist with marketing support in-clinic and in the community, including managing agency partners on digital/social media communications, including working with FastMed teams to help promote special events, developing event communications, and sharing event details on FastMed’s social media channels.
- Lead employee gift management & recognition, in conjunction with HR.
- Provide organic social media management and content support, including monitoring and responding to comments.
- Create and deploy external communications, including ongoing website updates, blog posts, etc.
- Provide in-center TV communications, serving as a facilitator between vendors who create/display.
Experience, Skills and Education
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, public relations, mass media, marketing, or related field.
- 4-6 years of relevant experience in a communications role preferred.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, including the ability to write for a variety of audiences and communication mediums. Writing samples may be requested.
- Executive-level communication and presentation skills, working with C-Suite level leaders and showcasing project ownership with department heads.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Flexible and able to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to quickly develop communications for crises planning and partner with senior leaders for the same.
- Extremely detail oriented and comfortable developing and/or working with project plans/timelines.
- Media relations experience, including writing press releases and statements, building media lists, and collecting media mentions.
- Tech savvy with proficiency in basic Office functions, plus working knowledge of and comfort with photography and videography as needed.
- Experience using social media, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Yammer, Microsoft Teams, etc.
- Able to work collaboratively with vendors, consultants, and FastMed team members.

Admin - While performing the essential functions of the job the employee may be in office or work remotely dependent upon the company and/or department’s policies.
Managerial Demands
While performing the essential functions of the job, the team member will be required to be available via cell phone during work hours, as well as before and after work hours and on weekends, to answer calls and concerns. Regular checking of FastMed email is required.
