Graphic Designer

FastSpring
FastSpring Salary
Santa Barbara, CA Remote Full Time
POSTED ON 5/11/2024

The Position:

FastSpring’s marketing team has a very fun mission: to inform the market and world about all the value that FastSpring can provide as a commerce solution for SaaS. As part of that mission, we are looking for a talented individual to bring their design eye and creative vision to our marketing and sales materials. We want our website, webinars, ebooks, sales decks and all marketing materials to be beautiful and easy to understand. That’s where you come in!

The ideal candidate for this job will come into it ready to contribute and help create great campaigns and materials right away, but with an eye toward expanding their responsibilities and becoming a design leader. At first the Graphic Designer will work within FastSpring’s existing brand aesthetic, but soon they will be extending, improving, and iterating on our visual identity and bringing their own flair!

This person will begin their job focused on prospect-facing materials such as our marketing site at fastspring.com, outbound email campaigns, social media images, blog images, ebook and whitepaper designs, webinar assets, and other items in that vein. They might also have the chance to help with illustration or design for technical documentation, sales materials, executive decks, and company-wide presentations. Creativity and clever communication is highly valued! Depending on the project, the solution may vary: animations, infographics, charts, graphs, visualizations, icons, you name it. The most important part is taking complex or intimidating topics, and making them approachable and appealing through great design.

The title of this position is “Graphic Designer”, but we’re big believers that if you have a different title that more accurately describes your contributions, there should be flexibility. Bring your ideas around that and let’s discuss.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Marketing Demand Generation team to design for FastSpring’s websites, ad units, landing pages, and campaign assets.
  • Work with the Marketing Content team to produce ebooks, whitepapers, and infographics, with an emphasis on data visualization (e.g. charts, graphs, maps).

  • Design whole pages for the website: product pages, company info pages, form/signup pages, and other web frontend design tasks.

  • Take complex concepts and break them into fun, easy to understand graphics and illustrations.

  • Light video editing to support demand generation and content campaigns.

  • Take a leading role in expanding and refining FastSpring’s design system and brand guidelines.

  • Increase engagement with FastSpring’s marketing materials through aesthetically pleasing designs.

  • Assist with FastSpring’s SEO efforts by keeping performance, next-gen file formats, and metadata in mind while designing.

  • Collaborate with other teams including Sales, Product, and Engineering to maintain brand consistency across all channels and touchpoints.

  • Have fun!

Great candidates for this role will have:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the field(s) of graphic design, UI/UX design, or illustration.

  • Keen artistic eye, ability to work within an existing brand but push the boundaries to make it their own.

  • Mastery of a suite of illustration/design/mockup tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Suite. Willingness to try other apps and tools.

  • Extensive experience with website Conversion Rate Optimization.

  • Ability to self-start, find the right priorities when multiple tasks are due at the same time, and self project management when necessary.

  • Ability to focus on results while working independently and remotely when given broad direction and desired results.

  • Experience using Asana, Jira, Basecamp or similar productivity and task tracking platforms.

Bonus Points:

  • Huge plus for skills with motion graphics and animation for the web, like After Effects, Haiku, or Lottie.

  • Also a huge plus for more advanced video experience, working with tools like Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Camtasia, etc.

  • Experience with a CMS framework such as WordPress is a plus but not required.

  • Front-end web development skills using HTML, CSS, and Javascript a major plus

  • A background in marketing SaaS, software, fintech, or other digital-first companies is a major plus
