We are currently seeking an Associate Underwriter for our start-up Surplus Lines division. This in an excellent opportunity to join the division prior to the official launch at the end of 2024.

The selected candidate will be involved with a variety of underwriting activities, which includes preparation of quotes and proposals, organizing and analyzing underwriting information, working closely with multiple underwriters, and cultivating strong working relationships with agency personnel, our Rating and Loss Control staff, and other departments.

This position will be located in our corporate office in Sarasota or our Richmond, VA office and is eligible for a hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two days from home.

Experience

• Two years of Excess & Surplus Lines casualty underwriting experience (or Bachelor’s degree and completion of FCCI underwriter trainee program).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and move easily from one project to another when circumstances warrant
• Knowledge of all commercial property & casualty forms and coverages, rating rules, and underwriting and loss control principles and concepts

• Knowledge of the independent agency system is preferred
