JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Credit Manager is responsible for the overall management of the credit department, which includes developing and improving the operational goals of the department, training, and development of staff. This position supervises Credit and Collections Specialists who are responsible for conducting credit investigation, releasing orders, and collecting delinquent accounts.
• Review collection reports to ascertain status of collection and balance outstanding and to evaluate effectiveness of current
collection policies and procedures.
• Manage the relationship of our collection agency.
• Create an internal credit scoring model and metrics.
• Audit delinquent accounts considered to be uncollectible; ensure maximum efforts have been taken before assigning bad credit
status to account.
• Establish credit limits on customer accounts to levels assigned or forward with recommendation to CFO.
• Review and approve adjustments to accounts to levels assigned.
• Recommends write-offs and submission to collection agency.
• Manage the process of review and approval of orders entered for proper documents and customer credit levels.
• Reviews and approves sales contract terms and conditions; recommends language changes to protect the company.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Experience reviewing sales contracts for adequate language that protects the organization regarding terms and conditions and
billing and collecting procedures.
• Experience with manufacturing or construction related projects including lien filing and contract documentation preferred.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or
complaints. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to a variety of audiences.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Able to evaluate financial statements and
obtain bank and trade references. Strong attention to detail.
• Word, Excel, and Outlook. In addition, the candidate should have hands-on experience with accounting software and credit score
systems (i.e., D&B Rating System).
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
A college degree and 5 years Credit experience preferred with at least 2 years of credit manager experience. Collection experience and cash
application experience preferred.
