What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Manager position at Federated Auto Parts?
SUMMARY:
This position will be responsible for the accuracy and consistency in the treatment of accounting transactions, ensure compliance with US GAAP and corporate policies. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of US GAAP and operational accounting working in a fast-paced, complex and team-oriented environment. This position reports to the Senior Leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the month-end close process, including maintenance of general ledger and sub-ledger systems
- Review journal entries and supporting reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts, as well as analyzing and explaining variances to prior periods.
- Responsible for general accounting performance of key controls and timely remediation of identified issues.
- Prepare / review complex transactional accounting.
- Provide insights and assist with the monthly financial statement analysis for senior management.
- Oversee inventory and payroll accounting along with ownership and oversight of accounting for an affiliate or subsidiary.
- Solid working knowledge of current and pending accounting pronouncements and US GAAP.
- Provide support for monthly reviews and year-end audit.
- Play a key role in optimizing and designing improvements of GL accounting system.
- Perform other special projects and analyses as directed by management.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 5 - 10 years of experience in accounting preferred.
- CPA preferred.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience with accounting close.
- Inventory and payroll accounting experience preferred.
- Retail and/or distribution experience with a multi-location company preferred.
- Ability to lead multiple areas, prioritize, and adhere to deadlines in a dynamic and process-oriented environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license is required and satisfactory MVR must be maintained.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test as applicable.
- Regular and consistent attendance is required. Must adhere to a flexible work schedule with required travel as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted or greater than 50 lbs. with assistance;
- Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as proximity to office equipment and household type chemicals;
- Able to properly utilize office equipment such as computer, phone, fax, copier, scanner, etc.;
- Frequently required to sit for long periods of time and occasionally climb/descend stairs;
