Job Summary
Oversees the management teams and directs the overall operations and maintenance of assigned region(s) within the FedEx Ground (FXG) network. Supports the company’s business objectives by collaborating with Business Development Solutions, Transportation, H.R., Field Operations, along with other appropriate departments to support FXG’s overall first business priority of ‘Safety Above all’. Plans, establishes and executes business objectives to meet all operational goals.
Essential Functions
• Plans, organizes, staffs, directs, and controls the day-to-day operations of region(s) • Develops and manages the regional budget. Ensures compliance and is responsible to address variances and other budget concerns • Performs all human resource management functions to include hiring, terminations, coaching, skills development, recognition and rewards, performance management and staff productivity. Ensures effective talent assessment and succession planning activities are completed for the region(s) • Leads the development of Safety and Fleet Maintenance goals for the organization that align with overall business objectives. Develops, implements, and leads company initiatives that drive goal achievement • Manages and sets the strategic direction for all facets of the safety program within respective region at FedEx Ground, ensuring compliance to Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other regulations as required • Executes Safety First and other strategic initiatives, ensuring timely and effective results and adoption • Ensures inventory reconciliation, contract supply management, cost containment, demand forecasting, competitive retail pump fuel pricing, short- and long-term energy policy, contingency planning, and emergency supply response • Communicates with all levels of Field and Corporate management, as well as related cross-OpCo departments • Ensures appropriate response to incidents, as well as ongoing support, from the safety organization to all levels of operations • Encourages application of Quality Driven Management (QDM) principles to promote continuous improvement. Oversees team’s exploration of innovative technology that will safely and sustainably improve performance trends and develops solid business justification to secure required investments • Represents FedEx Ground and supports involvement in industry activities and events that promotes Safety and Fleet Maintenance awareness and education • Manages and leads the functions required to ensure FXG has a maintenance program that meets all regulatory requirements, supports the network goals for service and claims, and provides effective cost management to meet annual budgets • Manages strategic supplier relationships to ensure delivery of assets to meeting business plan requirements
Minimum Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Business, Logistics, Engineering, or related field required. In addition to minimum experience, four (4) year’s related experience will be considered in lieu of degree
Minimum Experience
• Eight (8) year’s professional experience in safety, transportation, and/or related industry required; Five (5) years of which in a management capacity required

• Ability to motivate both direct reports and matrixed teams to perform at the highest level by inspiring a shared vision and empowering them to act • Ability to make decisions where no established guidelines may exist and that have significant impact to the company • Verbal and written communication skills necessary to explain complex and/or confidential information • Demonstrated ability to build professional rapport, effectively lead and develop a team and positively influence diverse groups at all levels of the organization • Leadership and people skills proficiency enabling consensus building and ultimate implementation of initiatives that deliver significant business value • Knowledge of and ability to remain current on related safety regulations • Knowledge of or ability to learn transportation operations • Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications

Pay Range: $127,192/year - $191,672/year
Salary information represents the full potential base pay range associated with this job. Actual starting pay would be determined commensurate with experience and relative to pay levels at the location. An employee may also be eligible for additional pay programs, such as geographic and/or incentive pay. These programs do not apply to all jobs or all locations.
