FEFA LLC is seeking a Lab Animal Veterinarian for a full-time career opportunity at a facility in Aberdeen, MD.

Unless otherwise directed by management, employees are expected to perform their duties during the work hours between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm (Monday through Friday). Employees may be required to work on the weekends and holidays as scheduled. The weekend/holiday hours are generally between 7:00 am and 1:00 pm but may vary.
Employees are expected to be familiar with the day-to-day activities, workflow, personnel, and daily schedules within the facilities they are assigned. We expect each of our employees to be forward-thinking and to create and assist in quality contract performance.
The Lab Animal Veterinarian will assist management in efficient contract operations and maintain an effective, positive, and professional relationship with both contractor and Government staff.
The primary duties of a Lab Animal Veterinarian are listed below:
- Understands and follows all SOPs and Quality Assurance Standards.
- Provide clinical care, research support, and regulatory oversight for all species housed in animal facilities.
- Provide veterinary care for a variety of animals including non-human primates, carnivores, ungulates, rabbits, and rodents.
- Perform daily health exams, quarantine procedures, semi-annual health exams, and health physicals for all animal species.
- Participate on a rotational basis in the weekend and holiday veterinary coverage roster.
- Assist with review of diagnostic support services reports and monitor reports for current and program trends.
- Directly support animal research studies of significant size, scope, and complexity.
- Maintain and perform QA on controlled substance logs and animal medical records.
- Assist with assigning veterinary support to veterinary staff.
- Assist with investigator questions and concerns.
- Perform routine, emergency, and research-specific surgical procedures.
- Provide assurance for compliance with regulatory agencies and AAALAC.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
The Lab Animal Veterinarian position must meet the following standards prior to appointment.
Education:
· Bachelor’s Degree, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, completed a veterinary residency program, and be DACLAM eligible at the time of hire.
Experience:
· Previous lab animal veterinary experience is a must.
