What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Care Tecnhnician I position at Fefa?
FEFA is seeking an Animal Caretaker I for our project in Aberdeen, MD.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Read, comprehend and follow all project SOP’s and Performance Standards.
- Perform daily animal health checks and report any abnormal animal conditions to the appropriate veterinary technician and /or supervisor.
- Ensure excellent animal care by providing daily checks, to include health, feed, and water, following project SOP’s and schedules established by management.
- Maintain daily animal census sheets, room equipment and other forms according to project SOP’s.
- Clean and sanitize animal facility according to project SOP’s and schedules set by management.
- Maintain animal caging and support equipment.
- Provide appropriate receiving for incoming animal shipments according to project SOP’s.
- Provide handling/restraint and manipulation of various animal species.
- Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs; bend, stoop, climb and stand for a prolong period.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Employees’ appointed to the position of Animal Caretaker I must meet the following standards prior to appointment:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- ALAT certification or have the equivalent training and experience to test.
- Must have the skills to perform the duties listed above with minimal supervision.
- Must provide proof of full COVID 19 vaccination
- Monday – Friday: 7a – 3:30p / Weekends / Holidays as scheduled 7a -1p unless otherwise directed
