Position: Full Time Garden Center and Greenhouse Grower

General Job Description / Summary of Position

A. Daily Responsibilities

• Planting Annuals, Perennials, Hanging Baskets, Mums, Poinsettias, and other seasonal plants.
• Planting Pots, Euros, Planters and Baskets for Stores
• Planting special customer orders
• Planting of seasonal items (holiday planters)
• Planting and transplanting for special events (EPIC)
• Pricing items within greenhouse
• Filling and staging store orders
• Merchandising and watering
• Assist in unloading of shipments
• Customer Service – help loading and lifting for customers, answering questions, recommend plants, etc
• Keeping the greenhouse tidy
• Utilize safe work ethic and techniques following protocols

B. Weekly Responsibilities

• Upkeep and cleanliness of greenhouse
• Maintenance and health of all plants – cutting, fertilizing, supporting stems
• Assist with unloading delivery of plants and products to greenhouse

C. Other Responsibilities

• Assist other growers when necessary
• Assist with special programs (poinsettia programs, etc)
• Other misc. tasks when needed

D. Qualifications for the Job

• Education Preferred- Associates or bachelors degree in Horticulture (can be in progress)
• Experience – prior greenhouse experience preferred but not required

E. Key Skills Needed

• Communication Skills – phone and email, excellent verbal and nonverbal skills
• Interpersonal Skills-ability to work with other growers and managers, team player, listening and taking direction
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent organization and time management
• Able to perform repetitive tasks

F. Physical Requirements Needed

• Lifting up to 50 lbs.
• On feet all day
• General bending and lifting
• Ability to handle greenhouse temperatures/environment

G. Standard Work Hours

• Department: Greenhouse
• Total Hours: 16-40 hours per week
• Position Start Date - February, 2024
