What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Accountant position at Fenner Precision Polymers?

Basic Scope/Purpose:  (The job’s primary purpose or contribution to the department or organization.)

 Under the management of the Accounting Manager and working in the Finance function including providing decision support to the Divisional Controller as well as cross functional managers, this position will ensure accurate inventory balance sheet valuation for the PRP US business lines.

This role will focus on driving process changes to ensure standards are updated timely and large variances minimized. This role will work with Procurement, Planning, Engineering, and Operations to update processes and confirm data for cost roll updates on raw materials, components, WIP, and Finished Goods ensuring variance to standard costs including material, labor, and overheads are minimized.

Inventory variance analysis/Process Improvements:

  • Work with the finance team, engineering, operations, and supply chain to identify and correct root causes of inventory variances.
  • Assist with the development of processes, reporting, and KPIs to improve inventory accuracy.

 

Standard Accuracy:

  • Develop processes for regular review and verification of standard costs used for balance sheet valuation of inventory including material, labor, and overhead absorption.
  • Work with finance team, product management, operations and sales to develop regular communication and change management with regard to standard cost changes and impacts to profitability.

 

Other Duties:

  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement and streamlining of processes and procedures
  • Support the integration process for acquisitions by reviewing current processes and aligning them with the base business policies and processes.
  • Support various project work, duties, and ad-hoc request across functions as required.
  • Backup for other reporting and finance staff duties 
  • Support, adhere to, and help maintain strong internal control policies and procedures

 Education and/or Relative Experience:  (The level of education and/or experience needed to successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job.)(Also show level of education needed for Career Progression)

·         Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience preferably in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
