The Ferguson Florissant School District is seeking an outstanding educator for the position of Restorative Room Specialist. The Restorative Room Specialist will provide support to the instructional program with specific responsibility to include school-wide implementation of restorative practices designed to establish an equitable learning environment. The role will assist with improving school culture by building healthy relationships, increasing social capital, reducing the impact of harm, decreasing antisocial behavior, repairing harm, and restoring relationships. This position exists to prevent, respond to, and minimize the barriers to learning that students may experience.
Essential Functions

- Provide school based coordination and facilitation of restorative practices for student support, using restorative tools, circles, and conferencing as needed, to support a positive school climate and culture.
- Provide ongoing support using Restorative Practices for students that need intensive support.
- Create and facilitate a restorative classroom space, used to support students’ social and emotional needs.
- Develops lesson plans, within the restorative classroom, to support Restorative Practices and community building.
- Provide continuation of instructional practices using district adopted resources aligned to Social-emotional and academic curricula.
- Assist in coordinating the re-entry of students returning to general education classrooms to provide access to wraparound supports and connection to resources.
- Work collaboratively with staff to analyze data to develop improvement plans to interrupt practices that contribute to disproportionate discipline practices.
- Collaborate with school staff and provide tiered levels of support to develop student social emotional skills.
- Attend school support team meetings and other student focused team meetings as necessary or directed by the building principal.
- Participate in professional development provided by the district.
- Monitor students during assigned periods for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Other duties as assigned by Principal.
- Bachelor’s degree with teaching certificate (any subject) preferred or Missouri Substitute Certificate.
- Experience with underrepresented students.
- Must have a working knowledge of computers and instructional technology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Theoretical and practical understanding of restorative practices within the school system.
- Ability to demonstrate cultural competency and to navigate and promote sensitivity with issues of race and equity.
- Demonstrated experience and success working with diverse and underrepresented students and communities.
- Knowledge of best practices in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support to meet students’ social and emotional needs.
- Knowledge of The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning competencies.
