What you will do:
- Negotiate road, rail, and barge freights with vendors.
- Manage cost-efficient road/rail/barge freight rates and volume management of raw materials and finished goods.
- From our US mines to our 5 facilities located in US (4) and Canada (1) and to export ports for mainly bulk but also containerized shipments.
- From our US facilities to domestic and foreign customers.
- Manage and negotiate the rates and allocations of road freight vendors and ports operators for most cost-efficient movement of all imported goods to the US facilities.
- Negotiate rates with forwarding and clearing agents and when required, coordinate, or execute shipments from US facilities to port and vice versa.
- Negotiate rates with warehousing companies (storage, loading and unloading operations, packaging,)
- Track shipments of domestic and international shipments to and from the US facilities.
- Implement and track KPIs for logistics in USA (transportation costs, transit time tracking, timely deliveries, order pick up date accuracy, …)
- Conduct regular performance meeting with the main vendors: quality review, reporting on cargo movement per transport mode, stakeholders’ satisfaction survey…
- Implement and roll out of road freight management software to a larger users panel, mainly shipping department employees. Organize training session with the service provider to ensure the software is used adequately by all stakeholders (shipping departments at mines and US facilities and road freight vendors).
- Assist establishing procedures related with logistics operations.
- Act as the Customs referent for Ferroglobe companies in USA.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and shipping legislation.
What we seek:
- Proven work experience as a transportation coordinator, logistics Specialist, Senior Shipping Clerk, or similar role.
- Experience in commodity purchasing as possible experience that can be valued.
- Knowledge of Supply Chain Management, order preparation and tracking.
- Knowledge of international Trade.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in autonomy.
- Problem solving oriented.
- Ownership and collaborative communication skills needed: able to work in cross functional and project management environments.
- Continuous Improvement management: implement, track, and maintain processes related with logistics operations.
