What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pet Sitter position at Fetch! Pet Care?
We are hiring in Chapel Hill and Durham! Candidates MUST be pet lovers, and be comfortable visiting animals of all sizes and handling dogs on leash. Some of the dogs we are staffing for pull on their leashes, and you must be physically able to walk dogs who pull. Must have reliable transportation, and be at least 18 years old, 21 and older preferred. The best candidates will have matching availability- some AM, midday, and PM availability is best.
- MUST be available for Thanksgiving AND Christmas jobs. That doesn't mean we will have you working the entire day, all day on both holidays, but you must be in town and be generally available and willing to accept jobs for both. We will be working at high volume and we need more sitters who can accept those jobs.
You can't be afraid to get dirty on a walk, or pick up waste. You MUST care about animals and have customer service skills. Our clients expect top notch care, and pay well, AND TIP, for it!
Pet sitters are independent contractors, and get paid by the job, so the more available you are, the more jobs you will get. The jobs will consist of a variety of pet sitting tasks, like walking, feeding, and general care. There will be a reference and background check, an interview and questionnaires before hiring.
This is NOT a pay your rent job. We do have current needs and it's definitely possible to build a regular income, but the job, in general, is somewhat seasonal, and takes some time to build up a recurring client base. You MUST understand that to be successful at this job. Our current sitters make between $20-1200 a month on a regular basis. It's a wide spread, and those who have been with us longer and been more consistent in accepting jobs and doing a great job are on the higher end and are those we continue to contract jobs to. We are looking to contract long-term, if it works for applicants, even if availability shifts some.
*** This is a great job for someone who is retired, husband and wife teams, and grad students. We also have found success working with people who already work from home with flexible hours (artists, writers, etc), online schoolers, stay at home moms with school aged children, and home schooling moms. The ideal sitter is looking for a flexible job that pays well, and are interested in contracting for a year or more, but are not going to be reliant upon the job for a main source of income.
The best way to get started is to go to our website and fill out an application. https://www.fetchpetcare.com/become-a-sitter/#apply-now Type in your zip code to begin. Make sure you detail your animal experience, your availability (some morning, midday, and evening availability is best) and where you live and are able to work. Candidates who do this will be considered first. You can also respond to this ad, to be considered for a secondary application, but it doesn't give as much information, thus less applicants make it to the next level.
