Job Description: Purpose: Under the guidance of the Director of Communications, this creative and detailed person is responsible for the development and implementation of comprehensive communications (internal and external) for the school. Reports to: Director of Communications, works closely with Digital Communications Manager The Communications Specialist is a key member of a deeply experienced and collaborative Marketing and Communications team and is responsible for helping attract and engage prospective students, as well as existing alumni, parents and friends of Fairfield Prep, to support enrollment and development goals. The Communications Specialist supports the digital voice for the school, implementing communications strategy and content for the website, social media channels and other digital content. This is a highly visible position, working across departments, deeply involved in campus life, and contributing significantly to the school’s branding. Works closely with the Office of Admissions, faculty and staff members, Office of Development and Alumni Relations, among other departments throughout the school Key Responsibilities: Initiates, implements, and contributes to major communications program/vehicles for the school including the website, weekly school newsletter, press releases, printed materials, video production, photography, digital advertising, and more. Creates electronic communications including emails, social media posts, website content and updates/maintenance, school calendar, digital signage, etc. Ensures that the school maintains frequent and consistent communication with current parents, faculty and staff, and alumni and alumni families. Helps in developing marketing and communications materials for multiple school departments, including digital/print marketing for admissions, digital/print for digital fundraising solicitations, and updates for the Alumni. Oversees Communications Calendar to make sure new projects are added and being tracked. Produces social media analytics reports as directed. Helps with implementing external/internal branding signage, keeping it up to date and current in placement and use. Attends school events on an ongoing basis, capturing photos and videos, including day-to-day school functions or classroom projects, special Development/Alumni events to cultivate strong relationships, and top fundraising events, including the Fall Auction, Giving Day, and giving campaigns. Supports Athletic communications needs, including promoting games, covering games with media, PR for athletic signings, and other. Serves as an associate editor on all external and internal communications. Contributes to the overall success of the department through a team approach. Expected Credentials: • Excellent written, verbal, creative, interpersonal, and communication skills • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a marketing/communications-related field (i.e., business, journalism, media studies, English, communications) • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, social media, and Adobe Creative Suite. • Ability to handle a wide variety of projects • Must be willing to work early mornings, occasional nights and weekends (as needed) in support of events and efforts supported or sponsored by various departments of the school.
