Job Description Typical duties may include but are not limited to: Advises students and alumni on career, academic or professional development issues. Conducts interviews, administers and interprets assessments, and evaluates results to match client’s interests, aptitudes, and personality to career options. Provides coaching to help clients understand and address personal, social or behavioral challenges that affect career or professional development. Develops and conducts training or workshops on career-related topics, such as resume writing, interviewing, networking, and job search strategies. Establishes relationships and maintains networks with employers to develop employment, immersion experiences, or other career opportunities. Promotes, networks, and participates in the execution of career fairs/events. Other Duties: Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Additional Job Description Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization. Two years of full-time, professional experience in higher education nor related professional environment. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered. Experience delivering one-on-one advising. Experience operating a personal computer and proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Student Personnel, or related field. Nationally recognized career services related credentialing. Experience teaching a University-level course. Experience using a Career Services Management software. Enter specific experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment. Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups. Ability to understand, interpret, apply, and explain personnel policies and procedures. Ability to manage and coordinate assignments to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently to complete assignments. Ability to provide professional customer service. Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes equity and inclusion.
