A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER
As a Transportation Engineer, you are vital to supporting traffic operations planning and design for master planning, long-range planning, regional studies, non-motorized transportation planning, and multimodal transportation planning studies. Your technical skills and working knowledge of transportation modeling tools enable you to conduct intersection, corridor, and regional operational analyses for complex urban projects. You are the primary resource for modeling data analyses, interpreting transportation model outputs to assess and identify transportation needs, and developing final reports. You have strong technical skills to summarize data and create visualization. Your analytical insights and critical thinking support project related decision-making.
TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in civil engineering, urban planning, geography, or related field
- 2-3 years of experience in consulting or with a planning agency, preferred
- Experience with HCS, SYNCHRO, and VISSIM
- Experience in AutoCAD
- Experience in MS Office, including proficiency in spreadsheets and database management
- Ability to provide work samples and references
- Ability to travel throughout the Greater NYC Region and the New England Region
We are looking for a self-driven individual who can work independently and in collaborative environments and can utilize strong organizational skills to problem solve and manage multiple tasks effectively. Our ideal candidate must have strong communication skills (oral and written) and preferably have experience with preparing technical information for public presentations.
