Job Description

Assist production in resolution of extrusion tooling issues, extrusion process issues, while working closely with Process Technicians and Maintenance. Assist in the inventory control of die tools, molder tooling, embosser systems, and co-extruder (screw and barrels). Have the necessary extrusion knowledge and abilities to properly execute and document any trial runs with New Product Tooling, R&D and CI trials on all extrusion processes, PVC, PE, WPVC and CODF. Responsibility to clean, maintain, and quality check all Fiberon tool sets.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

The following is a list of essential job duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as needed by the Manager
  • Maintain Fiberon Extrusion tools
  • Notify Tooling Manager when tooling and molder inventories need to be replenished and or refurbished.
  • Able to safely and correctly pull extrusion tools for production to run.
  • Successfully execute and document any trial runs with New Product Tooling, R&D and CI trials.
  • Assist Tooling Tech 3 with entry level tooling modification
  • Assist in tooling, coex screw & barrel and molder inventories and ensure said items are replenished and or refurbished when needed.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting extrusion tools and extrusion process issues.
  • Must have Mobile equipment license or be trained on Mobile equipment.
  • Responsible for calibrator alignment.
  • Responsible for safe operation and cleaning of ultrasonic cleaner.
  • Clean and polish extrusion dies
  • Clean and polish extrusion calibrations
  • Clean and polish Tooling templates
  • Clean and polish Tooling water tanks
  • Polish extruder Heads
  • Safety 5S
  • Clean and polish Acc. Parts such as orifices, coex adapters, etc.
  • Dies in/out Ultrasonic
  • Tooling pulling/staging for all scheduled production.
  • Package Tooling and other equipment for shipment.
  • Must be a good organizer and conscious of housekeeping and know 5-S principles for a well-kept Tooling area.
  • It is a responsibility to always work in a safe matter, as well as abiding by all company policies and rules.
  • Use and read measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauge.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:
  • Requires a high school diploma/GED.
  • 2-5 years’ experience understanding of extrusion tools and extrusion process.

Language Ability

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Need to be able to communicate well with Production Leads and Supervisors as well as Extruder Operators.

Math

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations. Must have the ability to read Production reports, read prints for rail revisions, and sizer set up.

Computer Skills:

General knowledge of computer, software Word & Excel.

Certificates and Licenses:

Must be licensed to operate forklift.

Ability to work 12 hours shifts in a continuous manufacturing operation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. Noise level is moderate, but ear protection is required in the Tooling areas as well as all Production areas.
