General Summary
FiberRise is seeking an Outside Plant (OSP) Technician to support our rapid growth. As an OSP Technician, you will join our highly qualified Operations team to help build fiber-optic networks. We are seeking self-starters, that possess the ability to work independently while collaborating with team members to achieve the company’s goals and commitments.
This is a field position located in the Trenton, Tennessee area. Preferred candidates will reside near one of the following areas: Trenton, Jackson, Dyersburg, or Union City.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform construction quality assurance reviews with weekly reporting. Verify that work is being performed according to specification and quality workmanship expectations. Immediately report significant quality or safety issues to the FiberRise Project Manager (PM), FiberRise OSP FE/Inspector, and contractor.
- Observe/review contractor quality control processes, document findings, and recommend improvements.
- Monitor production of construction activities and report weekly to FiberRise PM the quantities and location of work being performed.
- Assist the PM team and/or the FiberRise OSP FE/Inspector in the verification/validation of contractor invoicing.
- Assist FiberRise OSP FE/Inspector in the review of fiber cable splice diagrams/drawings and observe contractor network fiber cable splicing activities and report on the quality to FiberRise PM.
- Assist FiberRise OSP FE/Inspector observe contractor OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) testing and validation of test verifications, including overall fiber cable optical loss measurements and splice loss readings. Immediately report non-conforming results to the FiberRise PM.
- Assist Fiber Rise OSP FE/Inspector with red-line review, including a final 100% drive through to verify red-line quantities and ensure construction meets specifications. The drive-through with result in a final punch list. The punch list will be provided to the FiberRise PM and contractor. The contractor will be responsible for all corrective actions, which will be tracked by the PM. The OSP Technician will assist the FiberRise OSP FE/Inspection and/or validate corrective action items are resolved, as well as captured in the project database tool.
- Assist the FiberRise OSP FE/Inspector and/or the FiberRise PM with change order coordination, resolution, and documentation.
- Work with FiberRise PM and Operations personnel to manage the project schedule, to ensure that project milestones and deadlines are met.
- Troubleshoot and solve fiber cable service drop issues, monitor fiber cable service drop quality, and make recommendations to improve fiber cable service drop quality and efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma (or GED) with at least 2 years of experience in Telecommunications OSP infrastructure design, and construction.
- Must possess and continue to possess a valid driver’s license and comply with company policies related to driver’s license screenings.
- Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Working knowledge of fiber optic cable service drop installations, processes, and procedures.
- Familiar with basic FTTx infrastructure design and construction principles.
- Must be familiar with rules for electric facilities, construction, and public Rights-of-Way.
- Ability to lead by example, make independent judgments, and have regular contact with co-workers.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Must possess reliable transportation.
- Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach, and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity.
- Must be able to carry a ladder and lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work in various weather/environmental conditions (hot, cold, wet, dry, dust, vibration,).
- Must be able to work in loud, noise-filled environments out in the field.
- Must be able to conduct verbal and face-to-face contact with others daily.
