Job Overview
We are looking for a Dental Assistant to join our team and provide quality care to our patients. The ideal candidate is experienced in chairside assisting, taking x-rays, sterilizing instruments, and performing other clinical tasks as needed. We are looking for a professional with excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will also be knowledgeable about dental procedures and patient education.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients in the dental office
- Make patients comfortable in the dental chair, prepare them for treatment, and obtain dental records
- Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry, ensuring appropriate supply of equipment and materials
- Hand instruments and materials to dentists, and keep patients' mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment, and prepare tray setups for dental procedures
- Document patient charting as instructed by the dentist
- Perform certain orthodontic work
- Place dental restorations, Remove prosthetics
- Perform preventive maintenance on dental equipment
- Prepare materials for making impressions and restorations, and cases to be sent to an outside laboratory
- Make casts of the teeth and mouth from impressions and clean and polish removable appliances
- Process films, materials, and documentation for lab as directed by the dentist
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Licensed as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or a Registered Dental Assistant in Extended Functions (RDAEF) a plus
- Current CPR certification preferred
- Radiology certification preferred
- 1-2 years of experience as an RDA a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to follow outlined policies and guidelines
- Possess a professional and positive attitude
- Basic computer knowledge
- Knowledge of dental instruments
- Excellent customer service and leadership skills
- Ability to multitask efficiently
- Knowledge of treatment planning a plus
- Knowledge of DentiMax a plus
