About the role
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the organization, recruitment, deployment, and oversight of the NYFF Volunteer Corps. The Coordinator will work closely with full-time staff to identify volunteer opportunities, clarify training and oversight plans, conduct recruitment efforts, and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Festival’s volunteer program. The ideal candidate is highly organized with an interest in the production of large-scale events.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Oversee NYFF’s Volunteer Database;
- Establish and communicate clear expectations for volunteer oversight to festival staff;
- Conduct meetings with internal stakeholders to identify volunteer needs;
- Manage volunteer inbox as well as field questions from the public about volunteering requirements, opportunities, and general questions;
- Revise and distribute volunteer relevant scoping/training documents and materials;
- Conduct two in-person volunteer information sessions for prospective volunteers;
- Oversee volunteer placements/assignments throughout the festival;
- Oversee the distribution/creation of volunteer credentials, uniforms, meal vouchers, etc;
- Act as the primary point of contact on the ground for volunteers, performing regular rounds and checking in with scheduled volunteers throughout each day;
- Administer volunteer benefits throughout the festival including screening access, volunteer appreciation day, and the Volunteer Wrap Party;
- Generate reports on the status of the program as required;
- Participate in the Festival Wrap Process, turning in a full written report.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
- Ability to work onsite during pre-production and at NYFF venues throughout the festival
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership skills including flexibility and calm under pressure
- Comfortable working with databases as well as common productivity tools (GSuite, etc)
- 2-3 years of production or operations experience
- Familiarity with film festival best practices ideal
