Director of Retail Sales
As Director of Retail Sales, you will be responsible for proposing, establishing, and implementing the
general strategy for retail sales development in the US and Canada. You will work closely with our store
teams ensuring they are set up for success to execute our sales strategy and closely with the executive
team. You will be responsible for adding revenue and strategic relationships to our business, developing
and guiding the implementation of the specific business plans, achieving profitability and sales targets.
Responsibilities
• Trains and develops managers in all aspects of the business including clientelling, brand fit,
hiring, performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
• Finds new sales driving opportunities within the stores and through other partnerships
externally.
• Responsible for new store openings including, but not limited to finding locations, working with
developers, partnering with the merchant team to ensure right product and hiring the team.
• Develops, obtains approval, and implements annual business plans based on budget forecasting
and industry analysis.
• Responsible for business analysis and monthly financial reforecasting by store, and maintaining
all financial aspects relative to the retail P&L.
• Participates in seasonal product launch meetings to merchandise the assortment for the retail
channel.
• Work closely with Merchant and Planning teams to ensure stores are merchandised to meet our
sales plan goals.
• Work closely with Visual Merchandising team to ensure the vision of our Brand translates to the
stores and train associates to meet these standards.
• Develops and implements procedures for purchasing equipment, supplies, etc.
• Interacts with Filson leadership to implement vision, mission and company values.
• Ensures alignment for company goals to the vision for the company.
• Researches ongoing marketing trends for the retail store industries to determine pricing, and
develops and implements plans to maximize sales in order to meet or exceed goals and
objectives.
• Reviews operational records and reports on a daily basis and works with managers to analyze
and improve projections of sales and profits to meet budget targets.
Qualifications
• A minimum of six (6) years in successful business management at a Director level in retail
operations required, with experience managing multiple locations.
• Must be familiar with back office operations and able to make adjustments as necessary to meet
business goals.
• Must have supported or led new store opening processes.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with employees, the general public and all
levels of management including board members, maintaining professionalism and respect.
• Ability to lead and direct the work of others, while managing performance to optimum levels.
• Must be well organized with excellent attention to detail and ability to coordinate various
projects.
• Must have working knowledge of computers and software associated with a retail operation and
experience Microsoft Office Suite.
• Working knowledge of inventory and cost control systems.
• Must possess working knowledge of the accounting process, including financial statements,
budgets, accounts receivables/payables, inventory, debits, and assets as required.
• Must be able to travel at least 25% of time
