Purafil is looking for an efficient, detail-oriented Accounting Specialist based in Doraville. The Accounting Specialist is a critical financial role responsible for furthering our mission to make the world safer, healthier, and more productive. The Accounting Specialist will work closely with the accounting departments and members of corporate accounting as necessary to meet month-end close deadlines.
As a member of the finance team, this individual will also be responsible for working collaboratively throughout the organization to support Filtration Group’s values by establishing trust, demonstrating a bias for action, and promoting an entrepreneurial mindset.
Responsibilities
About the Role:
- Daily cash applications of customer receipts, A/R invoicing review, and A/P vendor invoice processing.
- Work with customers, sales rep and internal departments to resolve A/R invoice and account discrepancies.
- 3-way matching of A/P invoices, verify quantity, unit price, extended price and discount.
- Coordinate processing of vouchers, checks, ACH and wires.
- Verify the accuracy of assigned accounts by reconciling against A/P reports in a timely manner.
- Work with purchasing and other internal departments to resolve A/P invoice and account discrepancies.
- Respond to supplier inquiries timely.
- Confirm inter-company trade balances during month-end close.
- Successfully research and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Implement drives for cash flow improvement.
- Monthly tracking of capital project spending, and preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.
- AR & AP month-end journal entries and reconciliations
- Standard monthly account reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts.
- Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Skills and Experience:
- Undergraduate Accounting degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven ability to understand and apply accrual-based accounting.
- Experience with using workflow management tools.
- 5 years of Accounts Payable
- Experience in Accounts Receivable and collections
- Manufacturing industry experience preferred
- Excellent time management and communications skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced and continuously changing environment
- Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Excel and Word
- ERP System experience preferred, but not required
