Financial Analyst
The HPS finance team ensures that the operating budget is effectively allocated and managed to
yield the best results for our students. As a financial analyst, the candidate is responsible for the
compilation of statistical data to be used in the development of the overall annual budget.
Additional responsibilities include: development of financial reports, accounting, analysis and
monitoring of finances for assigned cost centers; development, implementation, forecasting, and
preparation analysis and reconciliation of municipal department revenues and expenditures; and
monitoring personal service, fringe benefits expenditures, reports and special projects as
assigned. The Financial Analyst must be able to multitask and handle several projects at any
given time in collaboration with various departments to develop the annual budget, capital plan,
operating plans, and special projects as assigned. In addition, the financial analyst provides
financial and statistical analysis needed to support decision making by the District’s leaders. The
office functions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Financial Operations
Accounting and reporting of all district activities including general operations and grants
including financial statement preparation and reporting, budget preparation and analysis,
payroll management, performance reporting measures, grant reporting and compliance
auditing
Forecasting of revenues and expenditures, analyzing departmental spending and
implementing cost control measures to align departmental spending with authorized
appropriation limits
Identifying and monitoring key budget and policy issues and proposing and analyzing
savings initiatives to increase efficiency and standardize operations.
Implementing any corrective actions identified in audits.
Developing and implementing all aspects of the annual operating budget, including
composing the budget document
Data and Technology
Compiles data from multiple sources in order to identify trends, prepare reports, and
analyze the financial health of the district for current and future years
Uses data to advise on efficient operation of the Office of Business and Financial Services
Navigates and maintains data on a host of financial software and relational databases
Customer Service and Communications
Working with department heads to assist with financial, procurement or other business
needs
Communicates and maintains positive relationships with a wide array of constituents
including principals, support staff, leadership teams, vendors, and community members
Acting as a business liaison to schools and departments by offering consultation and
support on best practices, procurement, financial management, applicable laws,
regulations, policies and processes
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
Experience, skills, traits, and beliefs:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or University with major in accounting,
finance or similar field of study plus 1-3 years of experience in a complex and demanding
accounting, finance, or related environment or five (5) years of relevant experience with
school finance.
Municipal accounting or school business experience preferred.

Must be able to express oneself clearly and concisely orally, in writing and through
presentations using proper grammar.
Must be a team player and able to work well with others.
Must possess advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, such as Outlook, Word,
Access, PowerPoint and Excel.
Experience with MUNIS preferred.
Regular and punctual attendance is a requirement.
Certain situations may require longer hours to complete duties.
Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to travel to schools
within Holyoke
Reports To: CFOO (Chief Financial Operations Officer)
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
$48,000-$54,000 commensurate with experience.
