Position Summary: This position is responsible for the hands on mechanics to perform work on a variety of machinery equipment of any vessel, repair and new construction at our vast, 63-acre facility.
Detailed Description:
- Follows directions from supervisors, foremen, and lead men.
- Align and fit parts according to specifications using a variety of tools and equipment.
- Ability to operate hand, hydraulic, and pneumatic tools.
- Install, maintain, and repair a variety of industrial equipment/machinery relating to propulsion, steering, cargo handling, gearboxes, engines, pumps, thrusters, etc.
- Ability to use precise measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, etc.
- Proper storage of equipment and pumps.
- May be assigned miscellaneious tasks outside craft as required.
- Clean tanks and machinery spaces to gas-free specifications.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve mechanical issues as they arise.
- Rigging, lifting, and handling machinery equipment.
- Attendance is an essential function of the job.

- Ability and willingness to engage in highly energetic pursuits on the waterfront.

Physical Job Demands:
- Occasionally place prop wrench by lifting 70lbs from floor and carrying 50', and place on nut ay 48".
- Occasionally in an overhand swinging fashion hit a wrench handle with a 20lb sledge hammer at 48".
- Occasionally utilize Chain Jack, Porta Pull, and Porta Power by lifting 46lbs from floor, carrying 50', placing in position, and pushing / pulling up to 150lbs of force.
- Regularly utilize various hand tools by lifting up to 22lbs and push / pull up to 70lbs of force.
- At least two times a day carry a 50lb bucket of tools and supplies to and from job site, including but not limited to, walking up to 500', climbing ladders / stairs, and crawling through 34" inner bottoms and through an 18"x24" lightening hole.
- Approximately five times a day manipulate vessel components for repair or inspection by lifting and carrying up to 50lbs for 25' and pushing / pulling up to 70lbs of force.
- Utilize small tools to manipulate small parts for installation and/or repair by gripping / pinching with 10lbs of force.
