Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision:
- Lead and supervise a team of plant operators and production staff during assigned shifts.
- Ensure all team members are following safety protocols and production procedures.
- Provide training and support to operators to enhance their skills and efficiency.
- Production Management:
- Oversee the blending process, ensuring accurate addition of ingredients and adherence to production schedules.
- Monitor production lines to ensure products meet final specifications and quality standards.
- Utilize scanners for delivery of ingredients and inventory control.
- Help maintain stock accuracy through regular checks and audits.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure safe practices are observed by all team members, and lead corrective actions if unsafe practices are observed.
- Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and lead by example in enforcing these practices.
- Ensure required paperwork is completed accurately and timely.
- Operational Duties:
- Lift up to 50 lb. bags, boxes, or containers of ingredients as needed.
- Climb up and down stairs and perform kneeling, standing, walking, and lifting tasks throughout the shift.
- Drive lift trucks and scissor lifts (training and certification provided).
- Facility Maintenance:
- Oversee the cleanliness of the facility, ensuring it is maintained to high standards, especially when handling fine powders.
- Provide maintenance teams with concise information to assist in breakdowns and repairs.
- Communication:
- Maintain effective communication with senior managers, providing updates on production status and any issues that arise.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and address any production challenges.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Learn aspects of production planning and ingredient ordering to provide coverage during annual leave.
- Assist in managing stock levels and ordering necessary supplies to ensure continuous production.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Production Supervisor or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in food production.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of safety and quality standards in food manufacturing.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb. and perform physical tasks as required.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Certification in forklift and scissor lift operation (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Flexibility to work different shifts and overtime as needed to get the job done.
- Availability to be on call for potential production issues
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for maintaining stock accuracy.
