Home Building Cost Analyst

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented full time COST ANALYST to join our team at Fine Line Homes. As a Cost Analyst for our home building projects, you will be responsible for analyzing, tracking and reporting on all costs associated with our construction projects. You will play a crucial role in helping our company maintain profitability and efficiency in our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and track all costs associated with construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment and overhead.
• Develop and maintain cost tracking spreadsheets and databases to monitor project expenses.
• Prepare and present regular cost reports to management, highlighting trends and areas for improvement.
• Work closely with project managers and procurement teams to ensure accurate cost estimates and budgets.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies to improve profitability.
• Conduct regular cost analyses to compare budgeted costs to actual expenses and identify discrepancies.
• Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and budget planning for future projects.
• Negotiate costs with material vendors.
• Work with IT to ensure our quoting process is as efficient as possible.
• Roll out price increases as needed.
• Work with marketing to update pricing sell sheets as needed.
• Build market analysis reports to aid in pricing market homes.
• Build market analysis reports to aid in new developments or new home products.
• Create trending reports on lumber and other material costs to aid in creating forecasted price increases.
• Optimize our pricing by regularly assessing local market rates, gathering competitor quotes and recommending adjustments to our standard features to ensure our pricing is the most competitive it can be.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field
• 2 years of experience in cost analysis, preferably in the construction or real estate industry
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of construction practices and terminology is a plus
