The Safety Manager will assist and support the Senior EHS Manager in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the site's Health and Safety programs designed to protect the health, safety, and well-being of all employees, visitors, contractors, and the local environment as well as compliance with all relevant EHS regulations and best industry practices.
Summary: The Safety Manager is responsible for complex technical work within a range of
Health and Safety disciplines. The Safety Manager will oversee and support the Senior EHS Manager in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the site's Health and Safety programs designed to protect the health, safety, and well-being of all employees, visitors, contractors, and the local environment as well as compliance with all relevant EHS regulations and best industry practices.
Safety Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversees and supports the Senior EHS Manager with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of all Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety (QEHS) management systems and programs.
- Develop implement, document, and review training programs related to QEHS to protect workers and satisfy regulatory and site requirements.
- Develop, review, approve and implement SOPs and all other QEHS documents
- Provide support with incident investigations, root cause analyses, and assignment tracking of CAPAs as needed.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to communicate, secure support, and inform the facility of EHS compliance risks and gain alignment on initiatives and priorities.
- Ensure that the site complies with applicable EHS regulations and company requirements and takes the necessary steps to prevent non-conformances.
- Oversee safety evaluations and risk assessments (JSAs, Ergonomic, FMEA) of processes or equipment and recommend CAPAs to improve safety performance.
- Provide technical support for Health and Safety programs (LOTO, Hazcom, Respiratory Protection, Chemical Hygiene, Radiation, etc.)
- Assist with the development of annual EHS goals, plans, and objectives.
- Reporting injury/illness data electronically to OSHA & generating and posting requisite site reports.
- Managing QEHS training information and incidents using online tracking software
- Assisting with New Hire Orientation safety training
- Manage the organization’s Industrial Hygiene program (air sampling, medical surveillance, and noise assessments)
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, or a similar degree required.
- Master's degree in EHS or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial-related work experience, industrial hygiene environmental management, or safety.
- EHS Certifications are a plus (CSP, CIH, CHMM).
- Must have the ability to adapt to changing conditions, priorities, and requirements, as well as the need to rapidly learn new skills.
- Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer-focus skills
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial-related work experience, industrial hygiene environmental management, or safety.
· EHS Certifications are a plus (CSP, CIH, CHMM).
