Position Summary: The Enrollment Counselor is responsible for increasing and maintaining the enrollment funnel across several actionable avenues. This position also acts as a liaison between the university and prospective students and their families. The role requires an individual who can work independently in promoting the university and recruiting students in collaboration with a campus-based admissions team. The Enrollment Counselor will also work on financial aid award packages, CRM database processes, and systems-based processing. This will be a professional representative of the university and is expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the university’s desire to promote a positive image and provide quality student service. Up to 25% of this position’s duties may require travel and overnight stays. The position salary is $32,000, with potential negotiation commensurate with admissions experience.

Required Qualifications:
Strong work ethic, integrity, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude translating directly to engaging presentation skills and prowess
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; accuracy and attention to detail; possess professional interaction, networking, and constituency-building skills
Strong understanding of the admissions enrollment funnel, from prospective student to enrolled student, and all stages in between
Willingness and ability to work non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
Proven ability to build and maintain effective business and working relationships with internal and external constituents
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, databases, and other computer skills
Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment and to be a self-starter
Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Prior experience working in higher education, specifically in admissions, student life, and financial aid offices
Strong data analysis and reporting background
Prior experience using Liaison EMP Software or other databases common to higher education and university admissions
Knowledge of FERPA and other higher education laws
Well-versed in higher education regulations and trends, specifically as related to admissions
Essential Responsibilities:
Process prospective student inquiries and applications
Personal outreach explaining the next steps in the admissions process to prospective students
First point of contact for prospective students with questions regarding admissions and financial aid
Support strategies to increase the effectiveness of each step to enroll a student, including the steps from prospect to inquiry/inquiry to application/application to admit/admit to enrolled student
Continually meet and plan to exceed enrollment funnel targets
Assist in increasing the number of individual and group-based campus visits of prospective students to Finlandia University
Collaborate with admissions staff on large-scale campus recruitment events
Develop expertise in communicating essential facts and information about Finlandia University and the admissions processes
Understand the details of academic programs, including curriculum, philosophy, structure, costs, and financing opportunities. Tell a compelling story about the value proposition for each program. Stay current on program evolution and new program development
Continuously review marketing materials, presentations, and recruitment protocol to ensure that all information distributed is accurate, up-to-date, and represents the institution honestly
Manage student records to comply with all university, state, federal and accreditation requirements
Work in partnership with university departments, including athletics, faculty, residence life, student financial services, and student development
Adhere to university policies and procedures
Work collegially and professionally with students, employees, and external constituents
Support the institutional identity and mission of Finlandia University as “a learning community dedicated to academic excellence, spiritual growth, and service.”
Demonstrate support for and engagement with Finlandia's strategic vision to become more fully a whole learning community accompanying the whole student toward an entire life
Perform other duties as required
