ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Supervisory and Administrative:
- Will be recognized by all staff as having the authority and accountability delegated by the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager and as specified in written procedures and plans to guide staff in duties relative to Food Safety and Quality Assurance.
- Maintains data bases and other documentation relative to the department for the purposes of monitoring, evaluating, tracking, and trending interdepartmental data and to ensure constant compliance with standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Provides technical support to ensure accurate labeling of finished goods in accordance with regulatory and customer requirements.
- Conducts and records process control verification to assure conformance to established standards and confirmation that critical control points do not exceed critical limits as established in the HACCP Plans.
- Respond to all non-conformances and apply corrective actions and implement preventative measures.
- Effectively communicate Food Safety and Quality issues to the Quality Assurance Supervisor or Manager.
Testing/Analyses:
Typical responsibilities:
- Logs, processes, and tracks samples.
- Conducts qualitative and quantitative physical testing.
- Evaluates materials for compliance to standards and specifications.
- Operates laboratory equipment, such as analytical balances, pH meters, brix meters, water activity meters, and ATP meters.
- Prepares, performs, and records microbiological testing.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Learns to evaluate methods and instrument operation problems and to review or analyze test results to locate malfunctions or inconsistencies.
- Maintains and calibrates lab equipment.
- Maintains supply of solutions, reagents and other lab testing materials.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Must be able to make decisions pertaining to acceptance and rejection of manufactured goods based on Food Safety and Quality criteria.
- Communicate effectively with production personnel on testing results and quality issues.
- Production start-up and line inspections. Reviews production paperwork for completeness.
- Application of corrective actions and preventive measures and Root Cause Analysis.
- Communicate shift activities in daily pass down.
- Must be capable of completing written reports accurately and legibly.
- Must be able to follow directions of management.
- Must be flexible in the event of schedule changes.
- Must be able to adhere to policies on codes of conduct and substance abuse.

- Responsible for consistently maintaining safe quality food products by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensuring visitors, contractors and customers maintain good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense/food security and HACCP controls, while on the premise.
- Aware and accountable for maintaining preventative controls necessary to ensure product safety and quality.
- Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management.
- Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills and information within assigned team and across functional areas.
- Ensuring all safety work practices are adhered to.
- Exhibit an understanding of quality standards and the ability to speak to Finlays quality systems.

- Experience in food processing or related field preferred.
- Must demonstrate a basic understanding of food processing sanitation and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- HACCP certification preferred.
- Visual and hearing acuity required to work in manufacturing environment.
- Requires basic math skills to complete reports.
- Must be a motivated, self-starter with effective communication skills.
- Must be able to cooperate and function with co-workers in work stress environment.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Microsoft Office program familiarity is required.
