The Washington DC office of Finnegan, one of the world’s leading and largest intellectual property law firms, is seeking a Human Resources Specialist. The Human Resources Specialist will maintain HRIS data integrity and prepare. routine and ad hoc reports to support department and firm objectives. They will also assist personnel in areas such as recruitment, employee relations, benefits, training, and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in compiling data for yearly department budget submission and executes on department project deliverables while staying within budget.
- Drafts HR communications as necessary, including memos, documents, event invitation and other relevant communications related to HR activities and work assignments.
- Conducts research, gathers data, and disseminates information for and on behalf department personnel
- Develops, maintains, and/or executes various recognition programs, including staff appreciation week, staff happy hours and other employee and departmental morale events.
- Prepares routine and ad-hoc reports, such as monthly EEO/diversity, department, management, vendor, and client reports; providing summaries, slide decks, analysis and interpretation as required. Ensures integrity of the data before submission to customer.
- Processes status and compensation changes in Dayforce. Prepares and communicates salary change notices and any applicable wage notifications.
- Prepares and processes monthly reports and data requests for departments as needed. Assists or completes survey requests as needed. Creates standard reports for HR department.
- Serves as back-up for recruiting and onboarding procedures, including creating and sending orientation schedules and new hire checklists, conducting orientation tour, and conducting policies and practices presentations for new hires
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required - six years related experience in lieu of a degree
- Minimum three years of progressively responsible human resources experience preferably in a law firm or other professional services environment.
- Working knowledge and proficiency in of Microsoft Office software suite with strong Excel skills; working knowledge of SharePoint or other web design program; internet research skills; HRIS and database software, preferably Ceridian Dayforce; and report writing and queries.
- Knowledge of viDesktop performance management software preferred.
- Strong presentation skills
- Excellent oral and written communication (including spelling and grammar) and interpersonal skills including professional interaction with all levels of personnel are required
