Job Title: Financial Reporting Analyst
Reports To: Financial Reporting Manager

SUMMARY
This role will assist with the preparation of financial reports filed with the SEC, FDIC and Federal Reserve, complete month-end journal entries and reconciliations as assigned, assist specified business units with their accounting processes, and, as needed, assist the Accounting Department in special projects—including, but not limited to: acquisition activities, policy/procedure documentation, process review, and technology upgrades.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, business administration or finance required
- CPA or CPA candidate required
- Preferred banking and/or public accounting experience auditing financial institutions
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of GAAP relevant to the financial services industry
- Ability to research and interpret technical accounting concepts
- Strong analytical abilities including the ability to understand and interpret financial performance and effectively communicate that performance through written and verbal communication skills
- Relevant experience preparing workpapers supporting publicly filed financial statements
- Self-motivated, detail oriented, and efficient
- Good time manager with commitment to meeting tight deadlines which may require extended hours and weekend work
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Each employee is required to complete all required Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training suitable to his or her position within the Bank
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Key member of reporting team to assist with the SEC and regulatory reporting processes to include:
- Preparation of weekly, quarterly and annual reports, including the 10Q, 10K, Call Report, FR Y-9C, FR Y-9LP, FR 2644, and 401(k) financial statements with adequate workpaper documentation for all filings.
- Obtaining certification from data providers for any and all data used in SEC and regulatory filings to support financial statements, footnotes or management discussion and analysis, including tables.
- Providing an effective challenge to the data provided for filings.
- Participating in the implementation of new accounting pronouncements into the financial reporting process, including researching disclosure requirements and working with other departments who will serve as the source of data for the disclosures.
- Addressing SOX/FDICIA control issues impacting the preparation of the SEC and regulatory filings and maintaining appropriate workpaper documentation to support SOX assertions.
- Assist with lease accounting procedures using lease software including:
- Account for new and modified leases as well as other lease updates that impact the financial statements
- Completing month-end lease journal entries and reconciliations
- Assist with quarter-end reporting for leases
- Assist with month-end accounting procedures related to SBA/Specialized Lending Unit:
- Supporting the loan purchases and sales activity from an accounting standpoint.
- Participating in remittance of data used for quarterly valuation of the SBA servicing asset.
- Assistance with special projects as needed—including, but not limited to:
- Acquisition activities
- Implementation of new accounting standards, particularly disclosure requirements
- Process review and improvement implementation
- Automation of manual processes
- Technology upgrades
- Completion of other tasks and duties as assigned.
