What are the responsibilities and job description for the CWMD Materials Scientist position at Firebird AST?
Firebird AST is seeking an onsite CWMD Materials Scientist with an active Top Secret/SCI clearance to serve as a subject matter expert and provide critical scientific and technical analytic support to the Counter WMD Technologies Department for our government client.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct assessments, demonstrations, analysis, and other decision making in support of counter WMD technology development.?
- Develop knowledge regarding technical issues through analysis of complex data sets, identifying actionable trends and problems.
- Prepare technical documentation and presentations to explain the approach, associated assumptions, and designs; develop, and implement technical solutions that expedite program efforts and minimize unnecessary redundancy.
- Oversee and contribute to DoD advanced technology development involving material and energy interactions, particle behavior, gravitation, electro-magnetic fields, logic, data science, information science, mathematics, statistics, systems theory, physics, chemistry, biology, and other sciences with Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) applications.
REQUIRED
- Bachelors Degree in Materials Science or a related field.
- 5 -10 years of non-academic experience; demonstrated and proven success in product development by leveraging materials science.
- Operational experience in advanced industrial manufacturing, additive manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain.
- Experience in interpretation and operationalization of data science analyses.
- Experience in or working knowledge of systems engineering and systems engineering disciplines and practices.
- Familiarity with research and development; testing and evaluation; planning, programming and reporting.
- DoD Top Secret level clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Travel required up to 25%.
PREFERRED
- Masters of Science in Materials Science or a related field.
- Experience in: Wet chemistry synthesis, Electron Microscopy (Scanning and Transmission), X-ray Diffraction, Modeling and Simulation, Photoelectrochemistry.
- Project Management Experience.

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, reports, policy, legal documents, etc.
- Ability to prepare reports and presentations to company management and customer(s)
- Demonstrated leadership ability, strategic and innovative thinker, and passion for the mission.

- Excellent organization and time management skills.

- Bachelors Degree in Materials Science or a related field.
CLEARANCE
- Active/current DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.
